Struggling to stay consistent with your workout? 🏋️‍♀️

I’ve always had a love hate relationship with the gym (mostly hate). I remember at university I signed up for a 3 month membership and bought a new gym wardrobe to motivate myself as I was adamant I was going to stick at it. I think I managed about 5 sessions before I gave up and convinced myself I was just too busy to find time.

In hindsight, I realised the gym was just not my preferred setting or form of exercise no matter how many times I tried to stick to it. As much as I wanted to feel stronger, look more toned and work on certain areas of my body, I just couldn’t get myself to commit to the gym and work on this.

Once I started yoga, I found the commitment part a lot easier which was not only a relief but it also felt good knowing I did have the motivation, I just needed to find a mode of movement that suited me.

I always knew yoga would develop my flexibility but I never imagined it would develop my current level of strength. My arms, legs and core have all become a lot stronger and more toned, my balance has significantly improved, and to top it off, my mind has never felt more at ease.

To summarise, don’t get yourself down if you can’t seem to stick to a particular form of exercise. Try different things, the internet has an abundance of classes you can experiment with from the comfort of your own home. Don’t force yourself to continue something you don’t enjoy (at least moderately) or it’ll never be sustainable in the long term.
